Welcome

For most of my professional career I have been involved in the practice, and the teaching, of graphic design, illustration, animation and interactive design. Now free from full time employment I want to concentrate on the creative arts in a more personal way, exploring different media, techniques and subject matter.

Since taking up painting at the start of last year I have focused mainly on landscape in watercolour and acrylic, attempting to create colour harmonies inspired by those in nature. I imagine this will be a major part of my future work but I am also keen to investigate experimental drawing, printmaking, photography and digital image making.

I am a member of Artmap Argyll, see Links page, an artists collective which organises an annual  four day Open Studios event in late August. Around 50 artists and venues open their doors to the public to share their practice, give demonstrations and sell their work. Like many of the artists my garden studio is also open year round by appointment, contact details are on the Contact Us page. If you are in the area and would like to visit give me a call or email to make sure I’m at home. My wife Margaret, a painter, jeweller and mosaic artist, also has a studio in the house so if you wish you can view both studios in one visit.
